Ozoon posts the next week's NFL point spreads and totals on Sunday afternoon. Moneylines, first-half lines, quarter lines and alternate lines follow on Monday morning, and player props go up the day before each game. Exact times are on our odds posting schedule.
Lines move between posting and kickoff. If the number on Tuesday isn't the number on Sunday, it's usually injury news, a weather forecast or money hitting one side. On game day, watch for the inactives list about 90 minutes before kickoff, it's the last big piece of news that moves NFL odds today.
Every NFL game has three main lines. Here's how they read on a Bills–Dolphins game, with $20 on each bet (example odds only):

The quick maths:
The spread evens out a mismatch. The Bills at -6.5 have to win by 7 or more to cover; the Dolphins at +6.5 cover by winning or losing by 6 or fewer. Our point spread guide covers the basics.
NFL margins cluster around 3 and 7, a field goal and a touchdown, with 10, 6 and 4 the next most common. That makes the half-point, the hook, most valuable around those numbers: +3.5 instead of +3 turns a three-point loss from a push into a win, and -2.5 instead of -3.5 lets a favourite cover with a field-goal win. You can buy points to move a spread onto the side of a key number you prefer.
Pick the winner, no points. Overtime counts. When the spread is under a field goal, the moneyline and the spread end up priced close together, so plenty of bettors just take the moneyline. On big favourites it's the opposite: laying -280 means risking $280 to win $100, which is why most people bet those games on the spread.
Bet on the combined score going over or under the line, whoever wins. Overtime counts. Injuries and pace move NFL totals, but weather moves them most: sustained winds of roughly 25 km/h (15 mph) or more take away deep shots and long field goals, which is why late-season games in Buffalo, Green Bay and Chicago can see totals drop several points. NFL player props let you bet on one player's game: passing yards, rushing attempts, receptions, receiving yards and anytime touchdown scorers. Ozoon posts them by 3 p.m. the day before each game, so NFL player props for today's games are already on the board when you wake up.

Once a game kicks off, NFL live odds reprice after every drive, turnover and score, and can lock briefly while a play or a review is in progress. You can bet live spreads, totals and moneylines plus quarter and half markets. Live lines earn their keep when something changes that the pre-game number didn't account for: a starting quarterback hurt in the first quarter, wind picking up at halftime, a favourite that can't run the ball.

A parlay puts two or more picks on one ticket for a bigger payout, and every leg has to win. With Parlay Protection, a pre-game parlay of five or more selections that misses by one leg gets up to $100 back in bonus bets, as long as every selection is priced at -200 or longer. We don't publish picks on this page, and the lines on the board aren't predictions. They're prices. The best NFL bets today are the ones where you think the price is wrong, so here's what experienced bettors check before they commit.
Check whether a spread sits on 3 or 7, or just either side of it. Half a point there matters more than anywhere else on the board.
No position moves an NFL line more. A starting quarterback ruled out can shift a spread by several points, more for an elite starter. Check the injury report before you bet and again before kickoff.
Wind matters more than rain or cold for totals and kickers. Check the forecast for outdoor games from November onwards.
If you expect a line to move, timing matters. Betting early can beat the market to injury news; waiting can get you a better number if money piles in on the side you want to oppose. A useful test over a season: if your bets usually beat the closing line, the price at kickoff, you're getting good numbers, whatever a single week's results say.
Betting splits show how the action on a game divides between the two sides, usually as two figures: the share of bets (tickets) and the share of money (handle). When they disagree, for example 70% of tickets on one team but 55% of the money on the other, fewer but bigger bets are going the other way. If the line then moves against the side with most of the tickets, bettors call it reverse line movement. Splits come from third-party data sites, not Ozoon, and they show where money is going, not who will win.
Decide what you're happy to spend for the week before the first kickoff, and stick to it. With early games, late games and primetime on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights, it's easy to keep betting to win back an early loss.
The Buffalo Bills are the closest NFL team to most Canadians, under two hours from Toronto, and they even played regular-season games at the Rogers Centre in the Bills Toronto Series from 2008 to 2013. The Detroit Lions sit across the river from Windsor.
