RUGBY LEAGUE - NEXT EVENTS
American Odds
Rugby league is a handicap bettor's sport. Thirteen a side, six tackles a set, and games that turn on a single kick: a 12-point lead is rarely safe, and the line usually tells you more than the moneyline does. At Ozoon you can bet on it for most of the year, from the NRL and State of Origin in Australia to Super League in England and France, with the Challenge Cup and the Rugby League World Cup in between. Odds show in American format by default, and your balance is in CAD.
Ten teams are in the men's tournament. Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Cook Islands make up one group. England, Samoa, Tonga, France, Papua New Guinea and Lebanon share the other. Most games are in Australia, with one in Christchurch and two in Port Moresby, and the final is at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on 15 November.
Australia are favourites, which won't surprise anyone after three straight titles. The gap isn't what it used to be, though. New Zealand have beaten the Kangaroos in recent Pacific tournaments, and Samoa and Tonga now pick from squads full of NRL starters. Samoa were in the final last time. England get two group games in Perth and a draw kind enough to put them in the knockout rounds.
When a tier-one side plays an emerging nation in the pool stage, the moneyline is barely worth a look. The real question is whether the favourite covers the handicap, and those lines can run past 40 points. The World Cup outright market stays open right up to the final.
There's rugby league to bet on for most of the year. These are the main competitions, with more detail on each below.
| Competition | Where | When | What you can bet on |
|---|---|---|---|
| NRL | Australia & New Zealand | March – early October | Moneyline, handicap, totals, try scorers, futures, live |
| NRLW | Australia & New Zealand | July – October | Moneyline, handicap, totals |
| State of Origin | Australia | May – July | Game lines, try scorers, series winner |
| Super League | England & France | February – October | Moneyline, handicap, totals, try scorers, futures, live |
| Challenge Cup | England | Winter – summer final | Moneyline, handicap, totals, outright |
| Rugby League World Cup | Australia, NZ & PNG | 15 October – 15 November 2026 | Game lines, tournament winner, live |
The strongest competition in the sport, and the one with the most markets. Seventeen clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the ACT and New Zealand play from March to September, with finals into early October. The Roosters won the 2026 Grand Final 19-18 over Newcastle, settled by a Daly Cherry-Evans field goal in his final game for the club. The Perth Bears join as the 18th club in 2027, and the season opens in Las Vegas again. That's the one weekend a year the NRL kicks off at a reasonable hour for North American viewers.
The women's NRL, played through the second half of the men's season. The Roosters did the double in 2026, beating Brisbane 30-6 in the final.
Queensland against New South Wales, three games between May and July. State of Origin is the biggest betting event in the sport, and it spills into the club game. Teams lose their Origin players around those fixtures, and NRL prices that week can look strange until you check who's missing. The women's series has its own State of Origin – Women markets.
The top flight in England and France, running February to October, with the Grand Final at Old Trafford. Wakefield Trinity beat Warrington 23-10 this year for their first Super League title. It was also the first Grand Final without Wigan, St Helens or Leeds in it. For bettors that matters more than the history does: the old pecking order has gone, and the Super League odds haven't always caught up.
The Challenge Cup is English rugby league's knockout cup. Early rounds put Super League clubs against lower-division sides, so the handicaps are huge, and the upsets pay well when they come.
Who wins. If the scores are level after 80 minutes, golden point extra time decides it, so draws are rare. They do still happen: in the regular season a game can finish level if nobody scores in extra time. Some match markets include extra time and some settle at full time, so check which one you're on before you bet.
In rugby league this is the main market, more than in most sports. Say the Roosters are -8.5 against the Dragons. A Roosters bet needs them to win by nine or more. Take the Dragons at +8.5 and you're paid if they win, or if they lose by eight or fewer. Lines move on team news, sometimes by a lot. The number on Tuesday often isn't the number on Friday.
Over or under the combined score. Watch the weather, especially for Super League in March and September, when a wet night in Hull or Wigan can turn a 40-point line into a slog. Mismatches pull the other way, and a lopsided NRL game can go well past the number.
First try scorer, anytime try scorer, and two or more tries. Wingers are always short in the first try scorer market, because that's where most tries finish. The better prices tend to sit with the players inside them: a fullback who hits the line, or an edge back-rower who gets plenty of ball near the posts.
NRL premiership, Super League Grand Final, State of Origin series and the World Cup outright. The 2027 club markets open in the off-season, before signings and pre-season form settle the prices.
At -140 you stake $140 CAD to win $100. At +180 a $100 CAD stake wins $180. Here's how that looks on a Roosters–Dragons game, with $20 on each bet (example odds only):
| Bet | Odds | Profit on $20 | Total return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roosters to win (moneyline) | -140 | $14.29 | $34.29 |
| Dragons to win (moneyline) | +180 | $36.00 | $56.00 |
| Roosters -8.5 (handicap) | -110 | $18.18 | $38.18 |
| Dragons +8.5 (handicap) | -110 | $18.18 | $38.18 |
| Over 42.5 points (total) | -110 | $18.18 | $38.18 |
Your bet slip shows the full return as soon as you add a pick, and you can switch to decimal or fractional in your account settings if that's what you're used to. Rugby league selections can go into a parlay on their own or alongside other sports.
Most rugby league is played on the other side of the world, so it pays to know when games are actually on. Super League is the easy one; the NRL means an early alarm.
| Games | Eastern (ET) | Pacific (PT) |
|---|---|---|
| NRL night games | About 3 a.m. – 6 a.m. | About midnight – 3 a.m. |
| NRL afternoon games | About midnight – 2 a.m. | About 9 p.m. – 11 p.m. the night before |
| World Cup final, 15 November | 4:35 a.m. | 1:35 a.m. |
| Super League, Friday night | About 3 p.m. | About noon |
| Super League, Saturday afternoon | Mid-morning | Early morning |
The catch is that team lists, late changes and weather updates all come out while you're asleep. Bet the night before and you're working with less information than the market will have at kick-off. Sometimes that's an edge. Often it isn't.
Live betting covers the NRL, Super League and the World Cup, with match result, handicap, total and next-score markets moving through the game. A sin bin or a couple of repeat sets can swing a match inside ten minutes, and the in-play line moves with it. Super League is the natural live product for Canadian bettors, because it's on in the afternoon and you can actually watch it.
Rugby league has a small following in Canada, but it isn't new here. The Toronto Wolfpack reached Super League in 2020, and Canada was due to co-host the 2025 World Cup before the hosts pulled out.

The NRL is the Australian competition: 17 clubs from Australia and New Zealand, with the Perth Bears making it 18 in 2027. Super League is the top tier in England and France. The NRL has more depth and bigger markets. Super League is played at times that suit Canadian bettors much better.
Yes, but it's rare. Level games go to golden point extra time, where the next score wins. In the regular season, if nobody scores in extra time, it stays a draw. Whether extra time counts for your bet depends on the market, so check the rules on the slip.
It's the handicap. That team starts 8.5 points up, so your bet wins if they win or lose by eight points or fewer.
If it's postponed before kick-off, pre-match bets are void and your stake comes back. If it's abandoned once it has started, settlement depends on how much was played and the rules of that market.
