The CFL spreads handicap levels the playing field between unevenly matched teams. The favourite carries a minus figure and must win by more than that number to cover. The underdog carries a plus figure and covers by keeping it within the spread or winning outright.
Example: Winnipeg Blue Bombers -7.5 vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders +7.5. Winnipeg must win by 8 or more to cover. Saskatchewan covers with a loss of 7 or fewer, or an outright win.
CFL spreads run differently from NFL spreads. The wider field, three-down structure, and the league's generally faster pace produce higher-scoring games and spreads that can shift more dramatically with a single weather or injury development. Outdoor stadiums in late-season Canadian weather are a real factor in how our lines move.
The CFL moneyline is a straight-up pick on the outright winner. No spread involved. Minus odds show the favourite; plus odds show the underdog. The size of each number tells you the implied gap between the two teams.
Example: Hamilton Tiger-Cats -140 vs. Toronto Argonauts +120. A $140 bet on Hamilton profits $100 if they win. A $100 bet on Toronto profits $120 if they win. Minus means favourite, plus means underdog.
CFL totals betting is a wager on the combined final score of both teams, not on which team wins. We set a number and you bet whether the actual combined score lands Over or Under it.
Example: Calgary Stampeders vs. BC Lions Over/Under 51.5. CFL games regularly produce higher totals than NFL games. The wider 110-yard field, three-down structure that forces faster decision-making, and the rouge (a single point scored when a kick is not returned out of the end zone) all push scoring upward. Minus sign means favourite: negative odds show how much you risk to win $100. -140 means risk $140 to win $100 profit.
Plus sign means underdog: positive odds show what a $100 stake returns in profit. +120 means a $100 bet returns $120 profit.
The -110 standard: most CFL spreads and totals carry -110 on both sides. You stake $110 to win $100. This is the margin built into the line.

The Grey Cup is the CFL championship and one of the biggest events on Canada's annual sports calendar. It caps the season every November, with nine teams chasing the title through the East and West Division playoffs. The CFL has nine teams split into two divisions: East (Tiger-Cats, Argonauts, Redblacks, Alouettes) and West (Blue Bombers, Stampeders, Roughriders, Lions, Elks). The regular season runs from June through October, followed by the East and West Division playoffs leading to the Grey Cup on November 7, 2027.
Three main reasons. First, the wider and longer field (110 yards with 20-yard end zones vs. 100 yards with 10-yard end zones in the NFL) creates more space for offences. Second, three downs instead of four forces faster play-calling. Third, the rouge (a single point scored when a kickoff or punt is not returned out of the end zone) adds scoring opportunities that don't exist in NFL games.
